Blown Pro Street Camaro
This Camaro was photographed at the Midwest Street Rod Nationals at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds about 1979. The car was from Iowa and was an mid 1970's Camaro re-bodied with a new plastic frontend. The car was well done with a nice Dyers 6-71 blower, velocity stacks, huge rear tires and all the goodies. This was state-of-the-art for the day!

Vintage Anglia Drag Car
In the late 1970s and early 1980s I worked at the local speed shop. The shop was One Stop Performance in Omaha, Nebraska. The Manager of the shop owned this Anglia called Bandit. The small block powered car was cleaner and nicer than most drag cars. I have wanted a killer Anglia ever since!

Rat Motor Chevelles and Novas
There was a time when Chevelles, Camaros and Novas with big blocks were common. This was a trio of Big Block cars at the 1980 Street Machine Nationals. They sat on the grass almost unnoticed, most guys only paid attention to the modified cars. In 1980 Pro Street was king so no tubs meant no attention!

1967 Chevelle SS 396/375hp
This Chevelle is a special car because it was my first. The car is a 396/375hp car with black interior and the 1971 Vega Orange paint that I had applied. My Chevelle was bone stock when I purchased it, but I added everything I could get my hands on.
This is an early photo of the car which later was commonly driven with 9" slicks on Corvette rally wheels, Carrera drag shocks (50/50 rear and 90/10 front). Today the car is disassembled awaiting a full day II restoration.
See this Chevelle in stock trim at the bonspeed blog!

1967 R/T 440 4-Speed
Here is one for all of the Mopar fanatics. A very nice 1967 440/4-barrel R/T with a 4-speed. This car was at the Street Machine Nationals and had big and little Centerline wheels and painted bumpers.

Day II Mach 1 Mustang
The Car Craft Street Machine Nationals were Muscle Car Heavan! Everywhere you looked was a stock or modified musclecar. This photo was taken in Indy 1980, you could still find a Mach 1 in every newspaper for sale cheap. Customizing a car like this was so commom.
Note: Look at the cars in the background!

Tow Bar 1968 Camaro
When was the last time that you saw a nice Camaro drag car, or any car for that matter being flat towed to the races? I do not know anything about the car, other than it had a very cool Yellow-on-Yellow panel paint scheme.
This photo was taken in the Spring of 1978 at Kansas Cities, KCIR Raceway. Wouldn’t be nice to have this today?

Tunnel Ram Challenger- KCIR Drags 1978
Remember, this photo was taken when you could buy a perfect Hemi car for $5000 bucks, I know because I passed on one! I was at Kansas Cities, KCIR Raceway in the late Spring of 1978 and this car sat in the staging lanes. I remember that it was super nice.
The car was tubbed and had the leaf springs moved in to accept the 12” slicks. The motor was a 440 topped with a tunnel ram and two 850cfm Holley double pumpers.

1971 Stage 1 Buick
This Stage 1 Buick cruised the streets of Omaha, NE in the late 70’s and early 80’s. The car had flawless Silver paint and Orange pinstripes down the side. The Centerline wheels with 4” fronts and 8.5” rears were state-of-the art for the day. As far as I know, the car is still in Omaha and shows up once in a while at the local cruise night.
There was another Buick that roamed the streets back then as well. The car was White with Black stripes and wore Stage 2 badges! The Stage 2 looked sinister with its flat black fiberglass racing bumpers. Where that piece of muscle car history is today is unknown?

Competition Engineering Pro Street Monza
It was an issue of Car Craft magazine in late 1979 and the article had this tubbed Pro Stock style Chevrolet Monza 2+2. The car was doing a tire melting burnout at an intersection of a city street. The best part was that the impromptu photograph had onlookers staring in amazement from their station wagons and sedans.
This photo (much less exciting) was taken as the Competition Engineering project car, with a Doug Nash 4+1 transmission sat motionless at the 1980 Street Machine Nationals in Indianapolis, IN.

454 Baldwin-Motion Camaro
Omaha, Nebraska 1977, I was in high-school and this car sat in the garage down the street. The day I shot the photo was the last time I ever saw it on the car being driven. This Baldwin-Motion Camaro had a 454, 4-speed with overdrive and Cragar Super Trick wheels. The Camaro had just 7500 miles showing on the odometer, it blew a timing chain and became a garage dweller.
